Infertility Issues for Couples

Particular issues may arise within a relationship during the course of fertility treatment, if this is the path chosen. For example:

  • How do we keep the spontaneity and playfulness in our sex life when it feels like a job?
  • What if we disagree about when to stop treatment?
  • How can we be supportive of each other when we are both drained?
  • How much information do we share with family and friends?
  • Will our relationship survive? Will we ever be the same?

Life crises like infertility often bring out both the strengths and weaknesses in relationships. Counseling can help you maintain a positive, communicative, and loving relationship during this time. You will learn specific ways to resolve differences as well as how to better communicate with your partner. You will also discover ways to feel more connected, which will help strengthen your attachment and commitment to each other.
